International trade

An independent agency, Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) is the successor to the Flanders Foreign Investment Office and Export Flanders. FIT offers support to Flemish companies in carrying out their international and export-led activities, while promoting foreign investment in Flanders. It prospects for trade and investment opportunities for Flemish businesses in the rest of the world.

For their global activities, Flemish companies can rely on FIT to provide guidance, financial support and legal advice. Trade missions, group exhibitions at international trade fairs and international promotion campaigns all form part of the aim of lending support to Flemish businesses outside the borders of Flanders.

Foreign companies eager to invest in Flanders can get in touch with FIT for information, contacts and guidance.

Control of strategic goods

If your company wishes to import, export or transit strategic goods, you will need a license from the Strategic Goods Control Unit. Strategic goods include military equipment and dual-use technology products, firearms and their parts.

Keep in mind that international trade restrictions may be imposed for countries like Iran. For all further information on this subject, please contact the Strategic Goods Control Unit of the Flemish Department of Foreign Affairs.
